ARX features in restored Dresden Cathedral

The reconstruction and restoration of historic Dresden Cathedral, in Germany is now complete. ARX products were featured in the new sound system installation during the renovation project.

Known in Germany as the Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady) it was bombed heavily during WW2. Subsequently, as part of post-war East Germany, it was left as an enormous pile of rubble to be a permanent war memorial.

Following re-unification in 1990, a Memorial fund was set up to raise money for its eventual reconstruction, and now, more than 60 years after its destruction, Dresden Cathedral rises up to the skies once more.

In order to satisfy the expectations of today's churchgoers and visitors, the new sound system provides audio of a quality that was undreamed of by the original builders.

Two ARX 8 channel active MSX 32 microphone splitters play a major role in the new audio system. These state-of-the-art units supply all microphone signals for recording sessions and to Outside Broadcast vans for transmitting to broadcast stations.

The main outputs of the MSX 32 splitters go to two 8 channel ITEC SDM8400 digital automatic mixers carrying the Strässer logo. The front panel splits are available for use by the OB vans and recording trucks.
